PaperWorks: the best and biggest art book fair in Mexico City
Mexico City, August 22nd 2017.- Along with Gallery Weekend Mexico, it will take place PaperWorks, an art book fair in Mexico City’s Tamayo Museum the next September 23 and 24, that will have the presence of 130 national and international expositors from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Spain, United States, France, Mexico, Palestine, Peru, Poland, Switzerland, Taiwan, and Uruguay.
Through a careful selection process, PaperWorks gathered the top local and international editorials that focus on the edition and production of art, architect, photography and essays books, and also reunite artists collectives, platforms and editorial projects related to Contemporary Art, independent editions, multiples and artists books.
As in past editions, the fair will have an activities program –activations, chats, workshops, book presentations, and performances– to create a meeting place between editorials and artists, critics, designers, printers, collectors, and general audiences, encouraging the artistic and editorial development in Mexico. In the third edition will present an artist book showcase composed exclusively by women, like Anouk Kruithof, Magali Lara, Verónica Gerber, Mariana Dellekamp, Patricia Lagarde, Carla Rippey, Ioulia Akhmadeeva, among others.
This edition will devote a special place to Francisco Toledo’s work, and to the projects of Centro de las Artes de San Agustín Etla, the Art Institute of Oaxaca, La Maquinucha Ediciones, and the Workshop el Alacrán. Also, the editorial work of Juan Pasco will be awarded, in collaboration with Antigua Librería Madero, for his work at the Workshop Martín Pescador, and a humble tribute to Felipe Ehrenberg, who recently passed away.
